MUHA

Folk Roots- Global Spirit

Muha brings Eastern European roots into the modern world, shaped by the vibrant multicultural scene in the UK. Blending the melodic beauty of Slavic folklore with Indian Kathak rhythms, Cuban beats, and original lyrics, they create a captivating sound — a musical feast rooted in tradition and inspired by the world.

“MUHA are an intriguing example of the results that arise from meetings of musical minds across porous national borders.” Songlines

Over the years, MUHA has become a recognised presence on the UK music scene, with appearances on BBC Radio 3and BBC Radio 4, and performances at major events including the Commonwealth Games 2022, Shambala, Bestival, Edinburgh Mela, Isle of Wight Festival, and Journeys Festival. The band was also nominated for Best Music Award at the Buxton Fringe Festival.

MUHA was formed in 2006 when Ukrainian singer-songwriter Iryna Muha moved to the UK and met award-winning Latvian guitarist Dmitry Fedotov. They were later joined by Louise Clements, a bass player and Kathak dancer, and Nikki McKenzie on percussion. Together, the band unites diverse musical backgrounds and a shared passion for storytelling through sound. Drawing on Slavic roots and global influences, MUHA create music that connects cultures and experiences, offering audiences an energetic and emotionally engaging journey through rhythm and melody.

“I didn’t understand every word, but I felt every emotion — MUHA’s  music swept me away.” Audience member
